No matter how hard you work or how dedicated you are to achieving your goals, if you don’t have the right mental attitude, you’ll struggle to do your best. Closing that gap between where you are and where you want to be comes down to learning mental toughness and employing strategies for success.

This week, mental performance coach Brian Cain talks about how to go from having an average mindset to an elite one, through focusing on mental performance.

If you don't like something, do something about it. This week's fight between two professional baseball teams stirred up a conversation around personal responsibility, growth, and responding to things outside of your control.

Jake shares his thoughts on baseball's unwritten rule, why if you don't like how someone does something, find a way to do better, and instead of making the excuse that their actions made you respond a certain way, learn why Competitors take responsibility - for their emotional response and action.

Culture is key, in the locker room and the boardroom. Texas high school football coach Randy Jackson opens up in this week's episode on team-building and co-creating team culture to create a framework both players and coaches buy into. If a group has common goals and speaks the same language both on the field and off, they are primed for success, even if they don’t always win.

The way to build that strong culture lies in having a dialogue with players and staff. People are more likely to want to uphold a structure if they feel they’ve been a part of creating it—if they have a stake in it and know why it is how it is. Just telling players why they should be a certain way falls flat, but if they have skin in the game, loyalty and drive follow not far behind.

To be successful as an adult, it’s important to go all the way back to your roots and remember what’s at your core. Ryan Schultz has had a hand in numerous projects on the rise, including his current role at ROMWOD, and good business practices are based on good principles.

Those principles often stem from the values you learned as a kid — like being kind and treating others the way you want to be treated. Schultz shares his story about why it’s important to him to integrate his beliefs with his actions and how doing the same can help lead you down the path to your own success in both work and life.

I know what it’s like to be frustrated by the fact that you aren’t where you thought you’d be by now.

We start after a goal with big dreams in our eyes, and 1, 2, or 5 years down the road, our current reality isn’t what we’d expected - and we still have farther to go.

Listen to this story about a music star spending 10 years singing to (practically) no one, and why you should be thankful you’re not "there" yet - and what to do about it now.
