Jake shares in today’s episode the importance of leaning into discomfort and how it’s crucial to developing as a competitor in life.

Most of us understand the need to push ourselves in our workouts. We have no problem going into an uncomfortable position, lifting heavier or running harder – yet many people forget that growth outside of the gym works the same way.

Jake passionate challenges you to take on the mindset of a Competitor, leaning into growth opportunities daily and why if you want to reach your true potential, you need to step out of your comfort zone every day.

1. If you can impact one person, the hardwork is worth it.⁣

2. Success takes longer than you ever expect it to.

⁣3. Do what you can with what you have where you are. ⁣

4. You can do a lot of things but you can’t do them all at once.

5. Hire a coach.⁣

6. There are a million ways to skin a cat.

⁣7. You don’t have to have it right on Day One.

8. There’s honestly enough room on the podium for all of us willing to do the work.

Imposter syndrome is common among anyone pursuing greatness. It's the feeling that "oh no, they'll find out I don't belong here." We live in fear of being "caught" as if the reason we got there was luck or an accident.

Imposter syndrome is COMMON, so know that you're not alone. Every successful person has felt this way and battled it. Want to be a Competitor who overcomes this feeling?

Here are three keys to helping you silence those thoughts and focus on what you're competing for.

Storytelling fosters connection among people. This week’s guest is professional storyteller, writer, and podcaster Yogi Roth. There’s no more natural connection than that between sports and being human. That’s why he’s dedicated much of his career to finding and sharing those special moments that illustrate the human side of sports—what’s beneath the helmet, uniform, and stats.

Roth encourages everyone to dig down deep and discover their most closely held principles—to learn what they want to do and who they want to be, what their style is, their vision, and their theme.

Just a reminder: choosing to compete for greatness in all areas of your life can be LONELY.

People you know won’t understand it. People you like will be ok settling for average. People you love will settle for a career / relationship / life well below their full potential.

But those people don’t live your life. You do.

This episode has one takeaway: if you feel alone because those you spend time with don’t understand why you push yourself to see how great you can, know that you’re not.

And if you're in need of meeting people who share your growth mindset, consider joining us here.

As a coach, she’s fostered positive relationships with her athletes and used the same work ethic to raise two active and hardworking daughters of her own.

She shows kids the power of going all in on a dream and working hard to reach a tough goal, and how to bounce back from that even if it doesn’t go as planned.
